Brandy and Monica hit a snag during their recent tour stop in Chicago on Saturday (Oct. 18), and the fans were totally shook. Clips have been buzzing on TikTok and Twitter from the concert where Brandy was vibing out to her classic ’94 jam, “Baby.” But just as she was hitting those notes, the sound took a nosedive, and she ghosted off the stage.
Before dipping, she told the crowd, “Give me one second, y’all, I gotta get my…” and boom, the mic cut off. But the drama didn’t stop there—Brandy didn’t come back, leaving Monica to rock the rest of the show solo. And, bummer alert: without Brandy, they didn’t even get to drop their iconic collab, “The Boy Is Mine.”
Monica Faced Paralysis In Vocal Chord Just Weeks Before ‘Boy Is Mine’ Tour
In other tea, Monica spilled major news as she just revealed that she dealt with a scary diagnosis just two weeks before the tour kicked off. During an Instagram Live from her account, sourced by TheShadeRoom, Monica shared she was sidelined by temporary paralysis in her right vocal chord. But instead of letting it cramp her style, she powered through and was stoked to say she could “get the songs out” like a boss.
“I thank God for where I am because we found out two weeks before tour that my right chord has temporary paralysis,” she confessed, eyeing Brandy, who was there for moral support. Brandy chimed in, admitting she could barely wrap her head around what Monica was “going through vocally.” For those curious, according to MayoClinic, Vocal Chord Paralysis means losing control over the muscles that make your voice work—definitely not ideal for a performer!
